The Area


Thickwood is a small village just outside Bath and on the edge of the Cotswold Hills.

It is tucked away so there is very little noise other than birdsong it is within easy reach of a popular Pub ‘The White Hart’ at Ford which is only a mile or so away. The World Heritage City of Bath is about 5 miles to the West and easily accessed by car.

Thickwood is situated on the Limestone hills that surround the area and have produced the golden colour stone that features on so many of the buildings both new and old in the surrounding area. It is on the Wiltshire Somerset border and gives easy access to both counties.

As previously mentioned it is very rural and surrounded by green fields which have little changed in centuries, a real opportunity to take in true fresh air!

If you are inclined to rural walks in the surrounding valleys there are numerous brooks and streams with ancient trees bowing over their banks as the water gurgles by.

The picturesque village of Castle Combe is only a few miles away, the centuries old cottages have often been used as a backdrop for internationally renowned films such as ‘War Horse’.

Venturing further South you have the Westbury White Horse and the Salisbury Hills. Heading North you are straight into the Cotswolds, Badminton Estate and its World Famous Horse Trials are just a few miles away.
