Below are a few suggestions but whatever you do you can relax in the knowledge that you can easily retreat to the comfort and tranquility of Upper House Cottage.
The rolling hills and criss crossing public footpaths offer several walks with a few pubs in striking distance you can meander around the local area discovering hidden valleys and brooks. The Cotsold Way starts from Lansdown Hill about six miles to the west if you are feeling up to a challenge.
Being so close to Bath it is not surprising there are lots of Spa options in the area.
There is of course the world famous Thermae Spa in Bath with its roof top pool and naturally heated spa waters. Also we are lucky to have Lucknam Park almost on our doorstep for a luxury spa experience.
Bath has a reputation for great shopping
Not only is the city home to high street favourites, but its lasting appeal as a shopping destination is that it has one of the richest selections of small independent retailers in the whole of the UK. You are almost guaranteed to find something different in the charming array of unique shops that make browsing a delight and keep visitors returning time and again.
For the golfing fans among you The Manor House Golf Club at Castle Combe is a few miles down the road. This 18 hole course offers some challenging holes and has a signature par three, the 17th, which has featured in the top 100 golf holes in the UK. It is cleverly set among the rolling hills if you are fit its a great walk but most people use a buggy as there are a few steep climbs, however this geography makes for some great views from tee and green alike.
We previously mentioned Lucknam Park for its spa facilities however it is a renowned stud and recreation center and offers many different equestrian services from instruction to guided hacks, so if you have equestrian leanings, you can get ‘on your horse’ just a mile or so down the road
We have mentioned the fact that there are several brooks in the area, the Bathampton Angling Association offer fly fishing day tickets on the Box Brook when in season, where you will find a true test of brook fly casting with Brown Trout as the reward.
